Adding the finishing touches…

We knew this week would have to be a short working week to provide us a ittle time to prepare for half term hospitality business. We decided to start finishing these stairs through filling the finally layer of slate chippings, and also through adding the handrail. We started by fixing the uprights…

…until we had uprights in place either side of every other step. We then worked out the angle of descent so that we could cut the top of each upright to the correct angle before attaching the hand rail…

… when we could fit the uprights into the groove on the underside of the hand rail. As you can see, Mike was quite pleased when we got the angle right.

Around the same time, we planted a selection of shrubs and perennials in the soil at the base of the pole that used to carry a decorated sign, and I will tidy up the rest of this new ‘bed’ in due course.

On Thursday we treated ourselves to a day out, on a different building project the far side of Llanberis. Details are unimportant right now, but the weather last Thursday was spectacular, as was this view of the Snowdon horseshoe, taken through the passenger window as we drove along.

These views make it all seem so worthwhile!
