And finally, the sun came out..!

We have (sort of) made the decision to carry on building the storage barn until the end of May, after which we will switch back to building the suites. This is partly because we have both become surprisingly invested in seeing the barn finished, and partly because whatever else happens, we simply MUST get a roof on the suites before the winter. As you can see, I continued putting the insulation between the brick courses…

…so that we could continue blocking up the walls. On the left hand side we have completed nine of twelve courses, with somewhat less on the right hand side.

The blocks now have to be delivered from a lorry on the road behind the barn and lifted over the wall…

…and if I may say so, we are quietly pleased with the progress. We are now at courses eight or nine all the way round…

and as you can see, the building is beginning to look significant within its setting. Below is the view from the concrete mixer area…

and below is the view if you stand within the left hand suite and look towards Moel Siabod.

We start getting really busy with the accommodation next week, so here’s hoping we can find time to continue making some progress with the building. But before I sign off this week, I want to show you some other progress. In memory of my parents, and particularly my dad, I planted an asparagus bed in some raised beds three years ago, so finally this year we could cut a small proportion of spears. I have to say these were the most delicious asparagus spears I have eaten in a long time…

Yes, they were worth all the wait… let’s just hope that you feel the same about next weeks blog post!
