Getting ready to floor it

Mike and I just (!!) needed to complete the last course of blocks in the foundations. Once that is done, the world will be our oyster…

…but first we needed to complete the blocking. You may notice, even in the rain, Mike is out there in his fluorescent waterproof jacket…

…right up until the rain stops and he can strip off his jacket.

We worked methodically along, completing the joining walls as we went by inserting the lintels over the waste pipes as we blocked.

Finally we arrived at the moment when the last block needed to be put in place…

…and here we are putting that last foundation block in place.

We left them for several days to set fully before inviting Alistair back with his digger to start moving the hardcore into place. Mike then had to take the breaker to these blocks to reduce them to hardcore sizes…

…and we will show you next week just what we did with them!

    1. It was a huge shock to us when we moved here – changing from Wretham where it rarely rained, to Snowdonia when it usually rains! But we are happy to confirm that the rain does mean the landscape is usually wonderfully lush and we are happy even if we need to put our raincoats on occasionally!
