Installing more studs and noggins…

Last time I explained that we have just started building the ground floor stud walls for our accessible suites. We started with assemblies that will form the central wall between the two suites…

…for which we had to close the floor damp-proof membrane over the block foundations, seal it in place, and then add the black damp-proof membrane on top of this.

We built the partitions flat on the floor, partly for convenience, but mostly because it was raining hard and this enabled us to stand about in the dry for longer!

We have screwed the partitions in place, but also braced them to help them withstand the winds which can be fearsome here.

Here is just another view to show how these walls are coming on.

Then we constucted the front left-hand wall of the right hand suite and installed this…

…but now there is so much wood in place, it is hard to see exactly what has been added!

Later we constructed and installed the right hand front of the right hand suite…

…so now the front view looks as above…

…and the rear view looks a little like this.

At this point, we declared we had had enough of working in the rain so have stopped for a day or so, partly to rest our weary bones, and partly as we have a delightful family from Arizona in as guests and are having a great time chatting with them, so we’ll begin building again later next week.
