Mike presses the point, and we are delighted by a delivery.

I know – you have noticed we are still working on the foundations, and you are wondering when we will move on to more exciting stuff. Believe me, we are asking ourselves the same question, and are very much looking forward to moving on one of these days.

For now, we are using the plate compactor (a.k.a. whackaplate) to compress the sand down into a level surface, ready to lay the floor.

You can see Mike is really putting his back into it, whilst I was idly tiffling around, raking the adjacent plot as level as I could, ready for him to compact…

…but sadly neither job inspired us. Once we had flattened the sand in all three zones for the storage barn, we moved on to…

…completing the last course of blocks in the accessible-suites-to-be. We started off by filling the gap between the foundation wall-so-far and the stanchions…

…and once that gap was filled, and all was level, we carried on to create the final course…

…which we need to be as level as we can possible make it, because the timber walls must sit on this. Before we start building the walls proper, we must put the floor in, so we…

…ordered a delivery of insulation board, sand, and damp-proof membrane ready for the next phase. We are preparing to put the floor in next week, and need to coordinate with a delivery of concrete before we lay this all out. In the meantime, we took this weekend off to divert to England and meet our new grandson…

…and congratulate his parents on a job really well done!!!!
