Our countdown to the wedding is almost over…

Last time I wrote, it was blisteringly hot here. Today we are enjoying a very pleasantly warm summer’s day, whilst earlier this week, we were delighted to welcome ‘a man with a digger’ to remove the spoil from our car park…again! We are still not in a position to back-fill the foundation trench, so instead we are turning our attention to preparing for the upcoming celebrations.

This picture gives a better sense of scale for the task in hand…

…and here we are nearly done whilst…

…you can see here we have retained a small pile of robust pieces of slate for future use, and will reposition the fence tonight to reflect the much diminshed pile of rubble taking up valuable car space.

We now have a relatively small list of things that need doing before the wedding party, and one of these is painting the porch. Below you can see that we have primed all those areas that Mike repaired earlier this month…

…and now you can see the primer/undercoat has been applied to most of the woodwork to be painted. Interestingly, when we saw how the porch looked painted a lighter colour, we rushed back to check old photos of Plas to see what colours it was originally painted and will be consulting a local architect before putting on the topcoat.

If you are thinking this is not much progress for a fortnight, we should let you know we have had a lot of visits by family lately, including a short period of dog sitting for Bodhi who is turning out to be a delightful dog (even if he wanted to run away as we tried to take this shot). The other thing we have been doing is shopping. Is someone having a party sometime soon….?

Yes, I think they are. This is the result of three trips to the wholesalers, and there are only three more still to go!

Of course we can pull this off. Are we getting anxious about this? Am I having occasional sleepless nights? Well, that would be telling….

  1. I expect there will be moments, but you have always succeeded at what you set out to achieve. You will get this and enjoy the best of celebrations. Congratulations to All.
    Very best wishes Julie
