Possible progress…

I will start with an apology for the delay in writing. We have been really struggling with lack of progress around the foundation problem, but more of that later. Please indulge me as I post a few more pictures from the wedding day…

…partly because this one has a nice shot of Plas and this one…

…because I have no idea what our kids are looking at, but I love the image!

My work for the last week or two has been sorting out the tool store. Niether of us are the tidiest people in the world, and the tendency is to finish a job, put all the tools in the closest box or bucket, and chuck it into the old kitchen or scullery. This picture of the old kitchen was taken part way through the clean up, so doesn’t even catch the full horror of the starting position!

And this is the scullery before I started work on it.

The kitchen doesn’t look too different in this shot, but I can assure you everything is now sensibly in stacking boxes or shelves…

…and here you can see me mid-explanation to Mike of where everything now lives, and exacty what he can expect should he not put things back where they belong!

Here you can see the view from one of the second floor rooms, showing the garden is getting under control, but there’s not much colour at this time of year…

…and here is the new delivery of plants which I hope will help resolve this.

Over the last two weeks, the weather in north Wales has been a lot cooler, so we have started to consider the need for curtains. After a few weeks research, we now have team Yvonne&Julie busy constructing curtains…

…and here we see the first finished curtains in place.

Whilst the curtains start to control the draughts, we needed to get back to the foundation issues. Here we see what confronted Mike earlier today…

…and here you can see that – hopefully – we have managed to dig through to rock at the base of the trench. We need to send pictures, have site visits, drawings need to be made and calculations calculated, but hopefully we are turning the corner now…

…so who knows what you might see next time!

  1. Lovely to see the children grown into adults whatever they were looking at. A lovely picture of the bride & groom heading home…
I love green, leaf shape and form for me and so much so after all the brown we had to look at during the summer this way.
What fantastic friends you have they turn their hand to everything to help you along. Ooh! All that tidying, I would close the door and head off and read a book, but needs must eh?
Mike get the jobs that no-one will see again but at least you know you will be standing on firm foundations when he has done his jobs.
    Best wishes to all, Julie

    1. Thanks. It feels like an age since we were in Wretham although we have not yet been here 7 years – but we still miss some of the people!! You will see later today that progress is still slow, but hopefully the blockage will be cleared soon. and hopefully more wedding pictures soon! Lots of love, Carrie
